Snapshot

TThomas MaasCo-founder, Flashbook
“We’re bootstrapped, so cash flow decides everything. On the web, we get our money within one to seven days. Trial conversion on the web is way higher than in the app, and the audience is way more valuable.”

Flashbook is bootstrapped and grows on Meta ads. To keep scaling, every campaign has to pay back within 7 days. That only works on the web: web payments arrive in days, while app store payouts take weeks.

Their own web funnel had two limits:

  1. It ran one offer for every country, which made it hard to grow in new markets.
  2. It sent Meta only two events, page view and trial start, which made it hard to optimize ads.

In April 2026, Flashbook moved to FunnelFox. The FunnelFox team rebuilt the funnel, set up full-funnel event tracking and launched localized funnels for priority markets. After three months, the Flashbook team ran everything on its own.

The FunnelFox team

In three months, the FunnelFox team moved Flashbook from one funnel to localized funnels and launched paid-trial tests. Then the Flashbook team took over.

The challenge: one offer for every country and too little data for Meta

Flashbook’s in-house funnel worked for one market and one offer. To scale into new countries, the team had to solve two problems.

1. Meta had little data to optimize campaigns on

The funnel sent only two events: page view and trial start.

2. Each market needs its own funnel

CPMs, prices and buying behavior differ by country. One funnel with one price doesn’t pay back everywhere.

“In Scandinavia, with our original funnel, we paid three times the CPMs, but the audience wasn’t three times more valuable.”
Thomas Maas—Co-founder, Flashbook

The solve: a localized funnel for each market, with every step tracked

The FunnelFox team set up and ran the funnels for the first three months.

  1. 01

Rebuilt the existing funnel and A/B tested it

The quiz was copied into FunnelFox one-to-one and tested against a second funnel in FunnelFox Experiments. The original performed better and became the base for the localized funnels.

  2. 02

    Turned on full-funnel event tracking

FunnelFox sends every funnel step to ad platforms by default. With more data to optimize on, CPA dropped 30%.

  3. 03

Launched a funnel for each priority market

The FunnelFox team helped fully localize each funnel for strategic markets, with its own language, price, currency and trial type: a low-cost paid trial in some markets, a free trial in others.

  4. 04

    Moved upsells to FunnelFox

Upsells now run as one-click offers right after checkout: buyers add them with one tap, without entering card details again.

With revenue broken down by funnel and country in FunnelFox analytics, the team saw which markets paid back and moved budget to them.

“We used to track only page view and trial start. With FunnelFox we track a lot more, and that brings ad costs down without any extra effort.”
Thomas Maas—Co-founder, Flashbook

Key takeaway

One funnel won’t pay back in every market

CPMs, prices and buying behavior differ by country. Flashbook gave each priority market its own funnel, price, currency and trial. These localized funnels now bring in 57% of web revenue.

The second lever is data: sending ad platforms every funnel step instead of two events cut CPA by 30%.

With FunnelFox, both run in one place: a separate funnel for each market and tracking across the whole funnel.
